Shatabdi wheels jammed, train stopped
April 20th, 2011 - 1:42 pm ICT by IANSKarnal, April 20 (IANS) A major tragedy was averted here Wednesday when the wheels of Amritsar Swarna Shatabdi Express got jammed and the train had to be stopped near Taraori station in Haryana’s Karnal district, an official said.
“Wheels of one coach of the train were jammed due to some mechanical problem. However, the driver managed to stop the train safely and there were no reports of any casualty,” G.M. Singh, commercial manager of Indian Railways (Ambala division), told IANS.
The train was coming from New Delhi.
“The technical staff is working to rectify the problem. This incident happened in the Delhi division’s jurisdiction and we have got the news that the affected coach was removed and train has resumed its journey towards Amritsar,” he added.
