Sharjah to develop heritage project
May 22nd, 2010 - 11:03 pm ICT by IANSSharjah, May 22 (IANS/WAM) The Sharjah Development and Investment Authority (Shurooq) will undertake a heritage project here to transform the city into a major tourist and trade destination.
The project and will be implemented in phases.
Shurooq chairperson Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qassimi said: “All nations hold on to their historic roots and are proud of their creativity and heritage, and our leadership is keen to highlight the UAE’s historic role, in keeping with its prosperity and distinguished human achievements that serve as a source of pride for the nation’s younger generations while moving steadily towards its future.”
The project also involves transforming ancient houses into hotels, restaurants and art galleries, while preserving their historic character.
