Kolkata, Sep 14 (IANS) Shanghai Electric Group, one of the largest equipment makers in China, is looking to set up a manufacturing facility in India, a company executive said Wednesday.

“We are looking for partnership. First, we have to open a local company in the country,” Shanghai Electric vice president Zhu Denian told reporters here.

Denian was at an event where the company signed a contract with Haldia Energy Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CESC Ltd, a group company of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, for supplying Boiler, Turbines and Generators (BTG) for the power utility’s thermal power project at Haldia in West Bengal.

The company will open an office at Gurgaon in Haryana.

Saying the company was involved in 14 projects in India, Danian said it was supplying equipment to them.
