Sensex up 0.48 percent in early trade

Mumbai, April 30 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities Friday was ruling 0.48 percent higher than its previous close during opening trade.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,503.47 points, was ruling at 17,587.02 points, 83.55 points or 0.48 percent higher than its previous close at 17,503.47 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was ruling at 5,276.85 points, a gain of 0.43 percent from its previous close at 5,254.15 points.
Broader market indices were also in the positive with the BSE midcap index ruling 1.2 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index trading 1.1 percent up.
