Mumbai, Nov 12 (IANS) Indian equities markets were trading dull Thursday afternoon even as the benchmark index ruled in a volatile zone. Other Asian markets were no different with key indices ending in the red.
At 2.20 p.m., the 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 16,822.18 points, was ruling at 16,780.83 points, 0.41 percent or 68.77 points lower than its previous close at 16,849.6 points.

Around the same time, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was also lower at 4,979.35 points, down 0.49 percent from its last close.

Broader market indices were flat with the BSE midcap index only 0.02 percent higher and the BSE small cap index 0.35 percent up.

The market breadth was tilted towards the negative, with 1,268 stocks advancing, 1,345 declining and 89 remaining unchanged.

Other Asian markets were in the red.

The primary index of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Hang Seng, was 229.64 points or 1.01 percent lower at 22,397.57 points.

The Kospi, benchmark index of the Korean Stock Exchange, was ruling at 1,572.73 points, down 22.09 points or 1.39 percent.

The Nikkei, a key index of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, closed at 9,804.49 points, down 67.19 points or 0.68 percent .

The Shanghai Stock Exchange composite index was trading flat at 3,172.95 points, down 0.07 percent.
