Sensex slips in early trade

Mumbai, Sep 29 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities Thursday fell in morning trade and was ruling 118 points lower minutes after opening bell.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE Thursday opened at 16,387.91 points, and was ruling at 16,327.97 points, down 118.05 points or 0.72 percent from its previous close at 16,446.02 points.
The 50-scrip S&P; CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading in the red, 0.75 percent down at 4,908.7 points.
Broader markets also edged lower. The BSE midcap index was down 0.58 percent, while the BSE small cap index was ruling 0.32 percent lower. The BSE 100 index was down 0.69 percent.
