Sensex quiet in opening trade

Mumbai, May 11 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Wednesday started off on a quiet note.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,572.61 points, was ruling at 18,566.53 points — up 53.76 points or 0.29 percent from its previous close at 18,512.77 points.
The 50-scrip S&P; CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading lacklustre at 5,548.05 points, up 0.12 percent.
Broader markets too nudged up with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.3 percent up and the BSE smallcap index up 0.32 percent.
