Mumbai, March 23 (IANS) A strong start in European markets added impetus to the bull run at Indian equities markets Monday as a key index ended trade 5.43 percent higher than its previous close.
The 30-scrip Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex), which opened at 9,040.3 points, ended at 9,453.19 points (provisional) - an increase of 486.51 points or 5.43 percent.
The S&P CNX Nifty index of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 4.95 percent from its last close to shut shop at 2,946.1 points.
The BSE midcap index ended 2.61 percent higher, while the BSE smallcap index was up 2.08 percent.
In Europe, a key index of Britain, FTSE, was ruling 1.5 percent higher from its last close.
