Sensex fluctuates wildly, now down 251 points (Second Lead)

Mumbai, Jan 14 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities market Friday was trading in a see-saw like manner, shedding its intra-day gains to drop 251 points lower than its previous close, about 40 minutes before end of trade.The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 19,198.04 points, was ruling at 18,928.81 points — down 251.01 points or 1.32 percent from its previous close at 19,182.82 points.
It had moved up to 19,447.82 points in the afternoon and fell later to the intra-day low of 18,893.01 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange too was in the negative, trading 65.4 points or 1.14 percent lower at 5,686.5 points.
Even broader markets gave up their gains, with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.8 percent down and the BSE smallcap index trading 0.71 percent lower.
Auto, realty and banking stocks were among major losers at this time.
