Sensex ends 75 points up (Second Lead)

Mumbai, May 31 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities Monday closed 75 points higher in choppy trade.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 16,872.17 points, closed at 16,938.03 points (provisional), 74.97 points or 0.44 percent up from its previous close at 16,863.06 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty ended at 5,088.8 points, up 0.44 percent from its previous close at 5,066.55 points.
Activity picked up in broader markets as well with the the BSE midcap index ending 1.27 percent up and the BSE smallcap index 0.64 percent higher.
Realty stocks came under selling pressure, while scrips of PSUs and auto firms were among the gainers.
