Sensex ends 0.68 percent up after volatile trade (Lead)

Mumbai, Nov 6 (IANS) A benchmark Indian equity index shut shop Friday 0.68 percent up after a highly volatile trading day.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened higher at 16,137.42 points, closed at 16,172.97 points (provisional), 0.68 percent or 109.07 points above Thursday’s close at 16,063.9 points.
Around the same time, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE), too, closed in the positive terrain at 4,802.75 points, up 0.78 percent or 37.2 points over its last close.
Mid-to-smaller capitalised scrips did better, with the BSE midcap index closing 2.45 percent up and the BSE small cap index ending 2.3 percent higher.
