Sensex down 213 points in afternoon trade (Lead)

Sensex Mumbai, June 12 (IANS) Indian equities markets were trading in the negative terrain Friday afternoon, with a key index ruling 213 points lower than its previous close about an hour before the end of trade.
The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, which opened higher at 15,446.82 points, was trading at 15,198 points - 213.47 points or 1.39 percent lower than Thursday’s close.

Like the Sensex, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too fell, shedding 1.29 percent from its last close to stand at 4,577.8 points.

Broader markets were also under pressure with the BSE midcap index slipping 1.99 percent from its previous close, while the BSE smallcap index was down 2 percent.
