Sensex crawls up, ruling 1.04 percent higher (Second Lead)

Mumbai, Sep 22 (IANS) A key index of the Indian equities markets extended its gains Tuesday afternoon, and was ruling 1.04 percent above its last closing figure about an hour before end of trade.
Around 2.34 p.m., the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened marginally higher at 16,805.22 points against Friday’s close at 16,741.3 points, was ruling 167.55 points or 1.04 percent higher at 16,915.57 points.
Around the same time, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was ruling at 5,025.6 points, up 1 percent.
Broader market indices also gained, with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.91 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index up 1.25 percent.
