Sensex closes flat amid volatility (Second Lead)

Mumbai, Jan 6 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities Friday closed flat, having pared its intra-day losses. Trading was volatile amid negative cues from other Asian bourses.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 15,789.08 points, closed at 15,878.28 points (provisional), 21.2 points or 0.13 percent up from its previous close at 15,857.08 points.
The 50-scrip S&P; CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also ended lacklustre at 4,761.25 points, up 0.24 percent or 11.3 points from its previous close.
Broader markets also moved up from the red with the BSE 500 index closing flat.
