Sensex closes 80 points up

Mumbai, Nov 4 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Friday closed about 80 points higher, paring some of the intra-day gains amid some profit booking.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 17,674.7 points, closed at 17,562.15 points (provisional), up 80.22 points or 0.46 percent from its previous close at 17,481.93 points.
It had climbed to 17,702.26 points in morning trade.
The 50-scrip S&P; CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also ended higher, 17.6 points or 0.33 percent up at 5,283.35 points.
Broader markets also gained with the BSE 500 index closing 0.74 percent higher. The BSE midcap index ended 0.74 percent up while the BSE smallcap index closed 0.34 percent higher.
