Sensex closes 63 points up (Lead)

Sensex Mumbai, Feb 15 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Tuesday nudged up 63 points on a rather volatile trading day.The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 18,260.08 points, closed at 18,265.62 points (provisional), up 63.42 points or 0.35 percent from its previous close at 18,202.2 points.

It had slipped to a low of 18,050.48 points in the morning and rose to a high of 18,361.66 points later in the day.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange shut shop 0.41 percent up at 5,478.55 points.

Broader markets ended mixed, with the BSE midcap index closing 0.19 percent lower and the BSE smallcap index ending 0.6 percent up.
