Sensex closes 187 points higher (Lead)

Mumbai, June 23 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Thursday closed 187 points higher while broader indices ended on a lacklustre note.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,526.92 points, closed at 17,737.89 points (provisional), up 187.26 points or 1.07 percent from its previous close at 17,550.63 points.
The 50-scrip S&P; CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also closed in the green at 5,323.8 points, up 0.86 percent.
Broader markets closed on a dull note with the BSE midcap index ending flat and the BSE smallcap index down 0.25 percent.
