Sensex closes 155 points lower (Second Lead)

Mumbai, May 2 (IANS) A benchmark index of Indian equities markets closed 155 points lower Monday, a day ahead of the release of the annual monetary policy by the Reserve Bank of India.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 19,224.05 points, closed at 18,980.03 points (provisional), down 155.93 points or 0.81 percent from its previous close at 19,135.96 points.
The 50-scrip S&P; CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange shut shop at 5,694.95 points, down 0.95 percent.
Broader markets ended in the red as well with the BSE midcap index closing 0.94 percent lower and the BSE small cap index 1.24 percent down.
