Sensex closes 135 points lower (Lead)

Mumbai, April 8 (IANS) A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets Friday closed 135 points lower as traders booked profits across the market breadth.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 19,602.81 points, closed at 19,455.71 points (provisional) — down 135.47 points or 0.69 percent from its previous close at 19,591.18 points.
The 50-scrip S&P; CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange shut shop 0.69 percent lower at 5,845 points.
Broader markets too ended in the red, with the BSE midcap index down 1.28 percent and the BSE small cap index closing 1.39 percent lower.
