Sensex closes 103 points up (Lead)

New Delhi, March 8 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities gave up some of its intra-day gains Monday to close 103 points higher.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 17,034.92 points, closed at 17,098.12 points - 103.63 points or 0.61 percent higher than its previous close at 16,994.49 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the broader 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was ruling at 5,121.3 points against the previous close at 5,088.7 points, a gain of 0.64 percent or 32.6 points.
Broader markets also saw gains with the BSE midcap index closing 0.69 percent higher and the BSE small cap index 1.04 percent up.
