Senior DGCA official ‘relieved of duties’ (Lead, Superseding earlier story)
April 19th, 2011 - 3:00 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 19 (IANS) R.S. Passi, the controversial director of air safety at the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has been relieved of his duties, a senior official said Tuesday.
“He (Passi) has been relieved of his duties… This is an internal arrangement and has nothing to do with the ongoing controversy,” a senior DGCA official told IANS.
Passi was joint director, air safety, of the northern region at DGCA. The official added that the action was taken “around two to three days back”. He remains with DGCA but not been given any specific duty.
The official refrained from commenting any further on possible action to be against Passi, who is alleged to have helped his daughter Garima Passi get a fake pilot license.
Passi’s daughter was a pilot with Spicejet airline and was sacked after it was alleged that she fudged her documents to get a pilot’s licence.
