SAIL, Jindal among nine given mining rights in Chhattisgarh
December 6th, 2010 - 11:54 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Dec 6 (IANS) Public sector Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) and private power utility Jindal Power Ltd (JPL) were among the total of nine companies that were allotted mines in Chhattisgarh since December 2000, the state assembly was told Monday.
Four companies, including SAIL, were allotted iron ore mines in the state while five companies, including JPL, were given coal mines since December 2000, Chief Minister Raman Singh said in a written reply.
SAIL was allotted 2,028.797 hectare stretch in Kanker district for iron ore mining in October 2009. The other three companies that got iron ore mining rights were Jaiswal Neco Industries Ltd, Sarda Energy and Minerals Ltd, and Godawari Power and Ispat Ltd.
The companies that got coal mines are JPL, Monnet Ispat and Energy Ltd., Sarda Energy and Minerals Ltd, Jaiswal Neco Industries Ltd and Prakash Industries Ltd. The JPL was awarded 964.65 hectare coal block area in Raigarh district in May 2005.
