Lucknow, June 18 (IANS) The Sahara group Wednesday demolished the boundary wall of a housing complex it is building here after receiving a notice from civic officials saying it was encroaching on the city’s green belt. The boundary wall stood in Gomti Nagar on the area earmarked for a green belt and a service road. Employees of Sahara India Housing Ltd demolished the walls after warnings issued by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDU), officials said here Wednesday.
“The Sahara Shaher’s boundary wall had encroached upon about 35-metre of the area reserved for a green belt in the master plan,” a senior LDA official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Around a dozen other unauthorised structures on the green belt in the same locality were demolished by LDA staff, the official said.
