S. Sundareshan is new petroleum secretary
January 31st, 2010 - 10:04 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 31 (IANS) S. Sundareshan Sunday assumed charge as the Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
He succeeds R.S. Pandey, who has retired.
Sundareshan, who was previously the additional secretary and special secretary in the ministry, is an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 1976 batch Kerala cadre.
He did his Master’s from the Bombay University and MBA from the University of Leeds, Britain. He was earlier chairman of the Forward Markets Commission and held senior positions in the ministry of finance and commerce.
The 58-year-old officer has also handled several important assignments in Kerala, including as principal secretary (revenue) and secretary of the department of expenditure.
