Apr 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Ryanair management has made it clear that it is going to impose a fee for using toilets. The airline management has decided to take this step and negotiating with Boeing to introduce toilets operated by coins. It has also announced plans for a hike in the charges for luggage for the summer season. As of now, the airline charges 15 per passenger for the luggage and it is planning to charge 20 as the summer season sets in.
Stephen McNamara, a spokesperson for the airlines said that the raised fares will be applicable for the months May to August. The airlines will install the new toilet in 168 aircrafts that it has. The move may create discontent among the customers. The chief of the low cost airline, Michael O’Leary said last year that he would introduce pay per use toilet in its fleet. It could not be implemented then as Boeing was yet to come up with a system. The budget airlines are notorious for charging for any extra services they offer the fliers on board. For instance, Ryanair also charges its passengers for drink and food additionally.
While charging for the toilet usage will allow the airline to increase its revenue it may affect the customers who are not willing to compromise with basic amenities on the flight. The airline also has plans to reduce the number of toilets in its aircrafts which may result in inconvenience of the fliers in the end. However, the spokespersons of the airline are of the opinion that the flights will accommodate more passengers if this is done.
