California, Mar 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The problems of Japanese car giant Toyota Motor Corporation seem to drag on. As the company is working overtime to fix the defects found in its Prius hybrid cars, the news of a car accelerating and putting the driver in danger has reached the federal investigators and Toyota itself. The dramatic incident happened at a highway in California. It is now doing the rounds in the web as well. A man called 911 for help and he said that his Prius 2008 model suddenly sped up and crossed 90mph speed which made him panicky. It was with the help of a Highway patrolman that he was able to slow down and bring the car to a halt.
The incident took place on Monday and by the next day the interviews of the 61-year-old man was found in YouTube and Yahoo sites. Ironically enough, the over speeding incident took place after Toyota made a presentation intended to show that the unwanted acceleration in some of its cars cannot be caused by in-car electronics. The company said later that it took an interview of the person who was driving that blue Prius but did not divulge further details. The car will undergo a thorough examination though. The driver said that he was trying to apply the brakes but they simply did not work.
The Blue Prius picked up a speed of 94mph and it made the driver alarmed. A highway patrolman drove near his car and suggested him ways to reduce the speed which he applied. He was so nervous that the police had to call an ambulance.
