Rs.60 mn Lord Krishna statue planned at Kurukshetra
June 23rd, 2011 - 9:06 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, June 23 (IANS) A huge statue depicting Lord Krishna’s ‘Virat Swarup’ will be installed at Brahmsarovar complex in the holy town of Kurukshetra at a cost of Rs.6 crore to attract pilgrims, officials of the Kurukshetra Development Board said here Thursday.
The decision was taken at the 78th meeting of the Kurukshetra Development Board held here Thursday under the chairmanship of Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia.
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was also present in the meeting.
Kurukshetra town, located 100 km from here, is considered religious for Hindus as an epic battle, which is part of the mythological ‘Mahabharata’, was fought here between the ‘Pandavas’ and ‘Kauravas’.
Lord Krishna, as per mythology, gave the sermon of ‘Gita’ to warrior Arjun during the battle.
