Rs.22.50 crore released for 15 anti-terrorism schools
April 27th, 2010 - 7:41 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 27 (IANS) A sum of Rs.22.50 crore has been released in the last three years for establishing 15 Counter-Insurgency and Anti-Terrorism (CIAT) schools in the country, the Lok Sabha was informed Tuesday.”During the 11th plan period, a scheme was approved for setting up of 20 CAIT schools, four each in the states of Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa. So far, the government of India has released Rs.4.5 crore to each of these states for establishment of three CIAT Schools in each of the states,” Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Maken told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.
“In total, Rs.22.50 crore has been released for establishment of 15 CIAT schools,” he said.
In 2007-08, no amount was given while in 2008-09 and 2009-10, Rs.12 crore and Rs.10.50 crore, respectively, were released, he added.
“So far, 226 police personnel have been trained and 224 personnel are undergoing training in one CIAT school at Chandka, Orissa,” Maken said.
