RRB Energy to make higher capacity wind turbines
October 2nd, 2008 - 6:39 pm ICT by IANSChennai Oct 2 (IANS) In line with the industry trend of moving towards higher capacity wind turbines, the city based Rs.8 billion turnover RRB Energy Ltd. will start rolling out around 2 MW machines next year onwards. “The total investment for the expansion project is Rs.2 billion and a major portion of that has been invested to manufacture blades and turbines in our plant near Chennai,” the company’s president S.D. Singh told IANS.
At present, the company makes sub-1 MW turbines.
Meanwhile, the company has bagged around Rs.3.58 billion worth of turnkey contracts from a few wind energy farms in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
“In terms of machines, we will be supplying over 100 machines with capacity 600 KW. As a turnkey contractor, we will do the site selection, micrositing, preparation of detailed project report, project engineering, erection, commissioning and after sales service,” Singh remarked.
According to him, the wind farms in Maharashtra will be 45 MW capacity and that in Tamil Nadu will be 25 MW but he declined to name the promoters of these farms.
He said the company hopes to close this fiscal selling 500 machines and book a turnover of Rs.15 billion.
