New Delhi, April 7 (IANS) The rising prices of steel is a matter of concern and the government will take every possible step in this regard, the newly-inducted Minister of State for Steel Jitin Prasada said here Monday. “The demand is rising but there is a shortage in supplies,” said Prasada, 34, a day after he was administered the oath of office to become one of the youngest ministers in the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
“The government will do everything to protect the interests of the poor and ordinary people,” said Prasada, who represents the Shahjahanpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha, after taking charge at the ministry Monday noon.
The world of business is not new to this former executive at DSP Merrill Lynch, who was educated at Delhi’s Shriram College of Commerce and later pursued a business administration course from the International Management Institute.
He was previously a member of the parliamentary consultative committee on civil aviation and the committees on petitions and IT and communications.
