Mumbai, June 8 (IANS) Reliance Securities Limited, a part of Reliance Capital, Wednesday launched an investor awareness programme (IAP) that will cover over 150,000 investors across the country within fiscal 2011-12, a company official said.

“An informed investor is better poised to derive maximum benefit from the investment options available in the Indian financial market. We will continue to ramp up our scale and pace of these investor education programmes each year and hope to help more investors create wealth by taking better investment decisions,” said Vikrant Gugnani, executive director, Reliance Securities.

This is the second round of the IAP being launched by the company in a span of two years. The first one was launched in 2010 and with a target of 100 such programmes, educating over 30,000 investors in 50 cities across India.

The company will roll out its programme in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in the first phase followed by the southern, western and eastern regions in a phased manner.

“Our focus would be on Tier-2 and Tier 3 cities where we feel investors have not been able to participate in the entire exercise of wealth creation because of lack of information or inadequate hand-holding preventing them from taking the first step,” Gugnani said.

The company has formulated detailed modules and literature that will help equip the investors with latest information on investment options, evaluation tools, internet trading with special emphasis on the advantages and disadvantages of the new internet and mobile technology platforms that offer unique investment opportunities.
