Reliance Communications introduces made-in-India handset

Chennai, June 26 (IANS) Integrated telecommunications major Reliance Communications Ltd Wednesday launched a new Motorola W362 handset here as part of its growth strategy. “The sleek made-in-India handset is priced at Rs.4199 and has rich features like MP3 ring tones, USB connect for Internet accesses, FM radio, camera and a large storage phonebook,” said V.G. Somasekhar, hub head for Tamil Nadu and Kerala, at the launch.
Initially, the new model will be available in 12 southern cities.
Reliance Communications has a subscriber base of four million in Tamil Nadu and two million in Kerala.
“Tamil Nadu is a major market for us, contributing around 9 per cent of the company’s overall revenue,” Somasekhar said.
Motorola has its Indian plant at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu.
