New Delhi, April 27 (IANS) Reliance Communications Tuesday said it has entered into an agreement with the Silicon Valley-based GetJar to offer its customers over 65,000 free mobile applications, ranging from games and shopping to sports and entertainment.
Reliance Communications will offer the service at 50 paise per MB of usage, while the application download and use by itself will be free of cost. The applications will be available across GSM and CDMA networks, it said in a statement.
“We wanted to partner with the largest, most experienced, ‘open’ application catalog provider to address virtually any device being used by our customers. This partnership means that all Reliance Communications customers will instantly have access to thousands of applications ranging from games, shopping and lifestyle applications to sports, entertainment and productivity applications,” said Anil Pande, head of VAS (value added service).
Popular applications such as Facebook Mobile, Yahoo!, Fandango and eBuddy can be easily downloaded to over 2,300 handsets across all major platforms, the statement added.
