Rajasthan urged to make industrial development master plan
October 20th, 2009 - 10:08 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Jaipur, Oct 20 (IANS) The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham) Tuesday urged the Rajasthan government to “urgently prepare” a master plan to develop the areas falling under the purview of the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).
The industry lobby’s newly elected president Swati Piramal told reporters here that such a master plan was required “to boost industrialisation in the state”.
The 1,483-km dedicated freight corridor will pass from Maharashtra through Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to the National Capital Region (NCR) with end terminals at Dadri in the NCR and Jawaharlal Nehru Port near Mumbai.
Rajasthan has 553 km of the corridor which will pass through Sirohi-Marwar-Beawar-Ajmer-Kishengarh-Phulera-Reengas in the state to enter Rewari in Haryana.
Piramal said the state should set up a separate committee to develop and market its tourism potential ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2010, to be held in Delhi in October next year.
“Assocham is willing to be a partner with the state government to make Rajasthan a tourist destination for the Games delegates,” she said.
Piramal also demanded setting up of a single window system for giving speedy clearances to investment proposals.
