Kamarhati (West Bengal), Jan 2 (IANS) Indian Railways will Jan 8 launch a pilot project of selling tickets from mobile vans at Tollygunge in south Kolkata, Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee said here Saturday.
Christened ‘Mushkil Aasaan’, the scheme proposed by Banerjee in her budget provides for positioning mobile ticketing vans near shopping malls and busy markets for the convenience of passengers wishing to undertake railway journeys.
“This project will greatly benefit people residing in places where computer printed tickets are not available,” she said after laying the foundation stone for the Kolkata Metro railway extension project form Dum Dum to Dakshineswar in North 24 Parganas district.
“If the pilot project is popular, we will increase the number of mobile vans,” Banerjee said.
