Railways accept credit card with photograph as identity proof
August 16th, 2010 - 7:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS) The Indian Railways has begun accepting credit cards with laminated photographs issued by banks as identity proof of passengers travelling on e-tickets from Aug 6, an official statement said Monday.
The other six documents accepted as proof of identity by the railways include passports, Income Tax Department’s PAN Card, driving license, photo identity cards issued by central or state government, student identity card with photographs, issued by recognised educational institutions, and passbook with photograph of nationalised banks.
The statement, however, added except senior citizens, no other person, including students, booking their tickets through Internet will be entitled to concessions in fare.
