Rail traffic affected at Ambala after derailment
January 5th, 2012 - 8:06 pm ICT by IANSAmbala (Haryana), Jan 5 (IANS) Railway traffic was affected at the Ambala Cantt railway station after a goods train derailed Thursday, railway officials said.
Four coaches of a goods train, which was approaching the railway station here, derailed Thursday morning. There was fog in the area when the derailment occurred.
The goods train was carrying coal for a thermal plant in Punjab’s Bathinda district.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) P.K. Sanghi said the railway traffic passing through the station was affected for some time following the derailment.
The Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express was delayed by over one hour following the derailment.
Railway officials said efforts were being made to put the derailed coaches back on tracks.
