R-Com appoints Shamik Das as COO of wireless business
November 14th, 2011 - 10:37 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 14 (IANS) Leading telecom operator Reliance Communications (RCom) Monday said it has appointed Shamik Das, former CEO of S Tel, as the joint president and chief operating officer of its wireless business.
“Shamik’s expertise in strategic planning and execution, operational management, collaboration and partnership, supply chain will enable RCom to maximize its competitive advantage in the indian telecom markets,” the company said in a statement.
“As a key member in the leadership team, Shamik will also be a member of the wireless management board,” it added.
Das has earlier worked in senior level positions in Airtel, where he was the CEO of Airtel south region, group chief financial officer and chief supply chain for Airtel’s mobile and infotel Business.
In his new role as COO, he will report to Syed Safawi, president, wireless business.
Das is a chartered accountant and has over 24 years of rich experience in sectors like telecom, engineering, global media and education, the statement said.
