Punjab approves 15 mega projects
October 25th, 2010 - 11:14 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Oct 25 (IANS) The Punjab government Monday approved various development projects, including seven mega manufacturing projects, four industrial parks, three hotel projects and a health tourism project.
According to officials, these projects will be established with an investment of Rs.2552.08 crore and they would generate direct and indirect employment for as many as 25,343 people.
“These projects have been sanctioned in the empowered committee’s meeting that was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal. Seven mega manufacturing projects will be set up in Fatehgarh Sahib, Patiala, Gurdapsur, Ludhiana, Malerkotla and Nawanshahr, with an investment of Rs.1551.47 crore,” a government spokesperson said here.
“Four industrial parks projects, worth Rs.694 crore, will come up in Mohali, Ludhiana and Amritsar districts. Three hotel projects will be established in Hoshiarpur, Amritsar and Muktsar districts with an investment of Rs.201.61 crore and one mega project of healthcare and medical tourism will be set up in Ludhiana with an investment of Rs.105 crore,” he added.
Besides, Badal has also directed the empowered committee to hold a meeting every month so that all the pending issues related to these projects would be finalised at the earliest.
