Punj Lloyd inks pact with Malaysia’s Hopetech
November 29th, 2010 - 7:37 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Nov 29 (IANS) Engineering and construction firm Punj Lloyd Monday signed an agreement with Malaysia’s Hopetech for providing automated electronic toll collection in India.
The two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to “offer cost effective and robust integrated solutions for automated electronic toll collection and a Central Toll Clearing House in India”. The deal was signed in Kuala Lumpur Monday, Punj Lloyd said in a statement.
“Hopetech’s expertise in providing a wide spectrum of automated toll revenue collection systems, and road telematics will complement our capabilities to execute toll road projects and will open up new opportunities for us,” said S.S. Raju, president and CEO, Buildings and Infrastructure, Punj Lloyd Group.
The use of electronic toll collection system will play a key role in the successful implementation of the government’s decision for use of radio-frequency identification (RFID) cards in all vehicles in the country, Raju said.
