Puducherry court adjourns Sankararaman murder case hearing till June 6April 15th, 2008 - 6:42 pm ICT by admin
Puducherry, Apr 15 (ANI): The Principal and District Sessions Judge of Puducherry, D Krishnaraja, has adjourned the hearing of the Sankararaman murder case till June 6.
The case was adjourned in view of the pendency of a petition filed by Kanchi Mutt Pontiff Jayendra Sarawasthi in the Supreme Court challenging the continuation of the Special Public Prosecutor of Tamil Nadu even after the case was transferred to Puducherry.
Only eight of the 24 accused were present when the case came up for hearing in court today. The Kanchi seers are among those who did not appear before the court.
Sankararaman, the manager of the Kancheepuram temple, was murdered on September 3, 2004.
The Supreme Court had last week reserved its order on the seer’s petition and had earlier transferred the trial from a Kancheepuram court to Puducherry. (ANI)
