Probe continuing in Delhi street lighting scam, says CBI
October 28th, 2010 - 5:46 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 28 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Thursday said that it was still investigating the suspected irregularities in a tender issued for upgrading street lightning in New Delhi ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
“The case was registered long back in the month of June. We had conducted raids and the investigations are still on,” said the officer.
Earlier, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) had asked the CBI to register a corruption case against some Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) officials in the case.
The contractor, who was awarded the job on the basis of his lowest amount quoted for the project, was later allegedly allowed to hike the project cost.
