London, Apr 28 (ANI): British royal Prince Harrys turn in Afghanistan will see him receiving a campaign medal next week.

And, it will be Harrys aunt, Princess Anne the Princess Royal, who will be pinning on the Afghanistan Medal for him.

Harry will be among around 160 Household Cavalry troops who will be honoured at the ceremony in Windsor on May 5 for their service to the nation, reports the Sun.

The Operational Service Medal (OSM) for Afghanistan is round and silver showing the Queen on one side and the Union Flag and compass on the reverse.

The ribbon has a red stripe down the centre with royal blue and light blue stripes on both sides and a light brown line at each edge. The stripes represent the three armed services, while the brown line reflects the desert landscape of Afghanistan.

The ceremony will take place at the Household Cavalry’s Combermere Barracks in Windsor.

Harry returned early from Afghanistan where he had been fighting the Taliban after a news blackout broke down at the end of February.

His role included calling in air strikes, carrying out surveillance of Taliban fighters, giving final clearance for attacks on Taliban targets and also guiding in some bombing runs. (ANI)
