Tokyo, Feb 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After Toyota’s massive car recalls from US, the president of the Toyota company Akio Toyoda will address reporters in China on Monday at a Beijing hotel, according to the spokeswoman of the company Ririko Takeuchi. This conference is organized with an intention to regain the consumer’s confidence on the brand. The president of the company will also, according to reports, discuss the problems for which it had to recall its cars.
Since last October, many complaints regarding its faulty cars have flooded the company. People complained about the floor mats, sticky gas pedals and the braking mechanism which was not working properly. According to reports these faults have made the cars dangerous to drive. Toyota since then has recalled 8.5 million cars from all over the world. In US, Toyota Motors has been charged with many cases and the President last week had to rush to US to answer the lawmakers. Akio Toyoda also visited the Kentucky assembling plant.
However, Toyota Motors Corporation is very optimistic about its market in China and hopes to capture its automobile market this year. Many people are analyzing Toyota’s decision to organize the press meeting at Beijing as a move towards building its brand base in China. China has since last year emerged as the world’s largest auto market. Toyota has recalled around 75,552 RAV4 SUV in China but expects to increase its car sale in the country. Last year 709,000 units of cars were sold and this year they hope to reach the mark of 800,000 car units’ sale in China.
