Over 75,000 visit Liwa Date Festival
July 26th, 2010 - 8:43 pm ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, July 26 (IANS/WAM) Over 75,000 people visited the Liwa Date Festival in the UAE, organisers said Monday.
The 10 day-event, which ended Sunday, was organised in Al Gharbia by Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (Adach). Various cultural activities were organised.
Last year, 60,000 people had attended the event.
The organisers bought dates worth 2.5 million dirhams ($680,680) from the farmers to promote date production. The dates were distributed for free among the visitors.
