Raipur, March 3 (IANS) A staggering 415 roads constructed in Chhattisgarh under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) were found to be sub-standard, Rural Development Minister Ramvichar Netam informed the state assembly Thursday.

Netam told the house in a written reply to Congress member and Leader of Opposition Ravindra Choubey that 3,350 roads under PMGSY were constructed in the state in the past seven years and 415 roads were found to be substandard.

He added that a probe regarding complaints of two other sub-standard constructions was underway.

Netam told the house that the government would deal strongly with any sub-standard road construction under PMGSY. The state government has ordered the contractors to reconstruct 27 of the 415 substandard roads while in the remaining the contractors were carrying out repair works, he said.

PMGSY is a 100 percent centrally-sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity in rural areas.
