Orissa inks pacts for three power plants
January 3rd, 2011 - 11:57 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Jan 3 (IANS) The Orissa government Monday signed pacts with three private sector companies for setting up thermal power plants in the state with an estimated total investment of Rs.20,469.60 crore (about $4.5 billion) and capacity of 3960 MW, an official said. The pacts was signed with KU Projects Private Limited (KPPL), SPI Ports Private Limited (SPIPL) and NSL Nagapatnam Power Company Private limited (NNPCPL), a senior official of the state energy department told IANS.
Each firm will set up a 1320 MW coal-fired super critical thermal power project, he said.
While KPPL proposed to invest Rs.7,260 crore (about $1.6 billion) for its project at Pitamahul in Sonepur district, SPIPL planned to invest an estimated Rs.6,609.60 crore (about $1.4 billion) for its project at Mahakalpara in the district of Kendrapada.
NNPCPL has proposed to set up its power project at Banamalipur in Angul district with an estimated investment of Rs.6,600 crore (about $1.4 billion), he said.
