unemploymentJuly 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Oregon Unemployment rate has hardly changed in the last eight months. The Oregon state Unemployment department came up with the Unemployment rate for the month of June which is 10.5 percent. In the month of May the rate reportedly was 10.6 percent almost similar to the rate for the month of June. The state department pointed out that the rate of unemployment has remained the same since the fall of last year. The state department said that the only respite in the midst of otherwise stagnant job scenario is the federal government’s hiring for the Census. However, the analysts also added that the temporary jobs that were provided by the federal agencies are coming to an end soon.

However, the analysts are hopeful that the scenario will change for the better in the coming months. Some others are voicing that the stability in the unemployment rate for the last eight months is also not bad. According to them it is better to have a stagnant rate rather than the falling numbers. Amy Vander Vliet, a regional economist said to media sources that “stability at this point is not such a bad thing”.

As for the job-seekers, analysts suggest that with such stagnant job rate, it is better to get into a job that pays less than sit idle at home and run out of the unemployment benefit. Tom Fuller, the state Employment Department’s spokesman said to media sources that it is unemployed job hunter now need to get into a “survival job” and wait for the economy to revive.
