Oil Palm
The Chairman of the Thai Oil Palm Association, Mr. Thawee Srisukhon (ทวี ศรีสุคนธ์), says Thailand has more than five million rai of oil palm plantations, and those in the southern region yield a satisfactory amount of produce.

According to the chairman, more farmers are interested to plant oil palms but the amount of palm saplings of a good strain in the market is insufficient at present, adding that the government does not support oil palm plantations enough.

Mr. Thawee calls on the government to assist oil palm farmers more and resolve the problem of expensive fertilizers. He also suggests that Thailand’s oil palm plantations will have more produce if it imports good palm saplings from foreign countries, especially from Malaysia.
