NTPC signs power purchase agreement for two plants

New Delhi, Nov 28 (IANS) India’s largest power utility, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Ltd, said Sunday it has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Madhya Pradesh’s State Power Trading Company Limited for sale of power from its upcoming generating stations in the state and in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

The two power plants, Lara Super Thermal power project in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh and Barethi Super Thermal power project in Madhya Pradesh will be based on super critical technology.

NTPC will sell 50 percent of the power from Lara power project to Chhattisgarh.

The Lara and Barethi power plants will have an installed capacity of 4,000 MW and 3,960 MW respectively.

The agreement was signed by NTPC executive director (Commercial)M.K.V Ramarao and P.K. Vaishya, managing director of Madhya Pradesh State Power Trading company.
